A Mixer [ Week 2 ]

Dear Diary

Things have fallen into a routine now.  I go to work, keep my head down and my eyes open.  I come home, check on Sparky, make something for dinner, have a shower and by then it's almost time for bed.  I'm growing some of my own vegetables now, which is great for keeping the grocery bill down and really is quite a lot of fun.  I've always loved to watch things grow and admire how the world works, especially nature.

Madeline threw another of her parties the other night and that was interesting.  I met this guy, Liam.  He's not really what most girls would go for.  For one thing he's incredibly shy around women and for another he has the most dreadful fashion sense.  But once I got past the glasses that seemed thick enough to pick up cable TV and the clashing cardigan and plaid shorts combo (I know, right); he was really charming.  Once I was able to get complete and coherent sentances out of him, I found we even had a lot in common.  Liam was a scientist too, though these days he's more of a sales rep, selling the products that come out of places like Landgrabb Industries to interested parties and sometimes even drumming up interest and funding for new projects. (How he does it in a get-up like that I have no idea, unless they make him wear a uniform for work).

Well, the party carried on into the wee hours and we'd all really had more drink than was good for us.  Everyone was having a ball and goofing around.  Next thing I know I leaned over and kissed Liam.  Not just a peck on the cheek either, but a full on-the-mouth kiss.

Frankly I don't know which of us was more stunned.  Once we'd both sobered up (just a bit), Liam asked if I'd see him again and I agreed.  Although I may need to see the rest of his wardrobe before I decide exactly how much time I'll be willing to be seen with him in public!
